Review: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

To Kill a Mockingbird is a story about kindness and love. Using first person point of view, a girl named Jean Louise Finch, also often called Scout, tells her family story in details. The boyish Scout often causes problems to her family and neighbors. Though that, Maycomb people loves her so much.

To be honest, this novel is more complex than I thought. Besides the issue I already mentioned, there is also race issues. As good example, I will use Atticus Finch’s case. This famous lawyer in Maycomb is hated by the Maycomb citizens when he received a client whi happens to be is a Negro. As a result, Atticus and his family is “expelled” from the society. Nevertheless, there still a group of people that support him and his family.

In movie version, The American Film Institute considers To Kill a Mockingbird movie version as the best jurisdictional drama. Moreover, the novel also wins some prestigious awards. So, I recommend you to read it.
