Just another ordinary day
When I approach you
And call your name
But you do not notice
So I smack your head
And you give me your full attention
With your eyes glaring daggers at me
As a bonus

We’ve been friends for like forever
Secretly
I hope that will change

I hold your hands
You raise your eyebrow
I stare into those eyes of yours
You look at me curiously
I open my mouth
And say:
“I love you.”

I wait
But you still don’t say anything
Just look at me –oh so seriously-
I stay calm, outside
My heart threatens to break, inside
I wait
For your reply

Then you laugh
And I am confused
You laugh, and laugh and laugh
Endlessly
And I just can stare at you

You stop, and look at me, amused.
“Oh God. That was so funny!
I almost believed it for a second!”

In that second,
I feel my world crumbling down on me
In that second,
My heart shatters to pieces

So I say:
“I think you just broke my heart.”

You smile at me
And say:
“Oh, really? Can I make it better?”
In that playful tone of yours

That somehow sounds
More like a mocking for my hazy mind
And I never know
Such playfulness could make it that hurt
Could make it that painful

Maybe you think
You’re just playing along
In this little
Game I play

Without knowing
How serious I am
So I say again:
“No, seriously;
I think you just broke my heart.”

You shrug
Like you actually have lost interest
In this little game
You say:
“Whatever. You coming?”

This time, I am the one
Play along with this game you made up
And say nothing
Just wave at you
Just like that
And you walk away from me

I am left
To just see you away
I am left
To wander

If I say it in a different situation
Where there are only two of us
If I refuse to play along
With your game
If I am not your best friend

Would you regard me seriously?
Would you answer me truthfully?
Would you accept me?

And I know
I will keep on wandering
For I don’t have enough
Courage anymore
For I am too afraid
To find out anymore
